Earlier this year I had the opportunity to speak at the DisruptHR event in Kitchener, put on by the incredible Natalie Dumond and her team. The challenge - ‘deliver a disruptive concept to the community of HR professionals. Something that will invoke thought and inspire action.’ The bigger challenge - I had 5 minutes and 20 slides. Exciting and daunting to be sure.
Wanting to stick to what I know, I narrowed it down to disruption in recruiting. Not AI or some magical new technology, but something simple and possibly profound. The thing that makes the biggest difference to actual results - accepted offers with ideal candidates. So I quelled my nerves with retail therapy (notice the shiny new shoes) and a glass of wine … and I talked to the room about the need to refocus recruiting on candidate choice.
And here it is!
