Tech for Good - Upside Robotics

It’s client love time, where we highlight one of our incredible clients: what they do, why we’re excited to partner with them, the good they’re putting into the world, and what we're working on together!

Who?

Where?

Founded and headquartered in Waterloo, but you’ll find them in farmer's fields across Ontario during the growing season!

What do they do?

Upside Robotics is revolutionizing the way farmers fertilize crops with their state-of-the-art, AI-powered autonomous robots! Today, two-thirds of fertilizer is unused and wasted, contributing to 5% of all global greenhouse gas emissions. Upside Robotics’s robots allow for precision spraying, determining optimal application timings and quantities. Efficiency goes up, environmental impacts go down!

Our partnership origin story

We were introduced to Jana Tian (CEO & Co-founder) and Sam Dugan (CTO & Co-founder) by another Artemis client, Astrus AI, who had also required help with specific, technical founding roles.

These organic, founder-to-founder word-of-mouth connections are our favourite.

What we’re working on!

We are thrilled to announce 2 placements this month at Upside Robotics:

Ravi Baboolal and Tanya Franklin!

Ravi brings his passion for cutting-edge robotics and his expertise as a mechanical and electrical specialist to his new role as Founding Robotics Engineer at Upside Robotics!

Tanya brings her agronomy and sales background and passion for agriculture as the team’s first Agronomy and Partnerships Lead!

We’re excited to support the Upside Robotics team in their next search for a Head of Autonomy. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll build the autonomy stack from the ground up, tackling localization and perception challenges while laying the framework for the autonomy platform.

If you are eager for in-person work in Waterloo and have a background in autonomous vehicles, ROS, LiDAR systems, and RTK GPS, this might be for you! Email Carly at Carly@artemiscanada.com to learn more.
